There are some disadvantages to memory toppers. They are usually made of quite synthetic materials although there are more natural ones appearing. These toppers usually have quite a bit of a smell to them and you'll need to air a new one for about a day before you can put it onto your bed. Thankfully it also takes about a day for the thing to actually unravel itself from the packaging that it comes in so it's all okay! Memory foam regardless of the density rating is a dense material. This can lead to toppers being quite difficult to breathe and circulate air. They can mean that a lot of heat that is generated by your body is trapped. Not something that most people like. Most toppers have 'open cell' designs leading to better breathability however you will notice a difference compared to a straight mattress. You can always put another topper on the top such as one made of fibre fill to remove those disadvantages. Some memory foam toppers even come with fiber fill toppings for those people that want that.
Many people wonder how comfortable mattresses, that enable you to sleep straight through the night, could be bad for your body. While we all want to sleep on mattresses that have some level of comfort to them, it is important to purchase a mattress not only based on how comfortable the top layer is. When perusing the vast mattress options, you should also consider what materials the internal layers of your mattress consists of. Firm support mattresses, such as those offered by memory foam mattresses, are far superior to the unreliable support provided by metal spring mattresses.
There are basically three types of Sealy TrueFoam mattress to choose from; the 8 series, 9 series and 11 series - the number is the thickness of the mattress in inches. The 8 series comes with 5" of high-density foam in the core and 3" of memory foam in the top layer. The 9 series comes with 6" of high-density foam in the core and 3" of top layer. What exactly are the benefits of the 9 series over the 8 series I can't really say as both have a 3.5" top layer of memory foam - I don't see how an extra one inch of high-density foam in the core makes the 9 series any better than the 8 series. The 11 series comes with 6" of high-density foam in the core, a 3.5" visco middle layer and 1.5" convoluted visco top layer.
However, there is always the possibility of spilling or staining your foam. We all have movie nights, breakfast in bed, or pets that have accidents on our bed. What is important is knowing how to clean your foam to be able to get the stains out. Listed below is one way to try and clean your memory foam mattress.
